Is it possible to record the last 20 or so minutes of a program after the next program has started?

I'm not sure I entirely follow what you are asking - but
a) you can set up a manual recording in any 5 minute increment, or
b) you can "pad" a recording or season pass of a show if it typically runs over by adding extra minutes to it...

Ok. See if this helps to explain better what I am trying to ask...
It's 8:10 and I am watching the last 15 minutes of the 7:00 show. If I press record I will get the start of the 8:00 program only.
How can I record the last of the 7:00 show?
I hope this is gives you a better idea of what I was trying, not very successfully, to ask.

Press Tivo, then 7
this takes you to the manual recording screen.
Using your example, set it to record from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm, this will save everything in the buffer.

Thats nice to know ..... My TiVo is a HD model.
I'll have to try it and see if it works.

Of course this is not as clean, but you could do this: On a commercial of the show you are watching, switch to the channel you were watching and press record. That will only get the previous 30 minutes of that show plus the remainder of the show. I believe this will only work on dual receivers like mine, but I have done that before. One more catch might be that the guide data might not match the actual show. Don't expect this to work after an athletic event on the same channel.
A final requirement of this working is that you WERE watching the channel you want to record or at least the second receiver was already on that channel. Otherwise you will only record from the time you switched to that channel.

Why is this in the Season Pass Alerts thread? Very annoying for those who subscribe to keep getting email updates on an obscure "how to" discussion.... (I know, I just annoyed everyone one more time, but I had to speak out since it appears there are no moderators on this forum.)
