Okay ... thank you to the couple people who replied to my last thread, regarding TiVo with Direct TV. Now I have a new question!
For now, I will just have to deal with only being able to TiVo one channel at a time with the new Direct TV hooked up. However, I need to figure out how to hook up the Direct TV and the TiVo!! The guy came today and hooked up the Direct TV, and he told me that I will only be able to TiVo channel 3. There must be some other way to do it!! I would appreciate some help ... like some step by step directions on how to hook them up so I can TiVo any station from Direct TV??
Thanks in advance for any help!!

I assume you have a "standalone" TiVo. It came with an IR emitter ("blaster") - two LEDs on plastic sticks connected to a wire. You position one or both of these emitters on the DirecTV receiver box such that it shines onto the opening for the remote control and plug the wire into the "IR OUT" jack on the TiVo. Then you rerun Guided Setup, tell it you have DirecTV and go through the channel changing setup. The TiVo will change channels on the DirecTV receiver as needed - and you should not use the DirecTV receiver's remote to change channels.

Thanks for the reply! Yikes, I'm not sure what you mean by the LED's on plastic sticks! I have a Series 2 dual tuner TiVo. Right now, the video cables from the TV are plugged directly into the Direct TV receiver. I'm assuming I need to change that - and run them through the TiVo first, then run the cords from the TiVo to the direct tv?? But then how do I get my dvd player to work? Yikes!!
I think what you said jarred my memory a little bit - that I'll need to go through the set up process again and this time select Direct TV. Hopefully I can figure it out. Otherwise, I might need some step by step instructions from someone more technology advanced!!

Sorry for asking but didn't you get setup instructions in the box?
The issue is there is an Ir cable that has a plug on one end and 2 plastic emitters on the other. There are 2 small round holes in the back of the Tivo and definitely make sure you use the right hole!
If you don't have the setup instructions let us know and someone will provide a link to the setup instructions online if you can't find it from the Tivo.com site.

I did get instructions, however I bought my TiVo probably 2 years ago - so who knows where they went. I don't recall the IR cable being used when I initially set up my TiVo 2 years ago, however I will have to try to find it and figure it out now that I need to switch it over to satellite instead of regular cable.
Thanks.

This is what the IR emitter looks like:

If you cannot find yours, you can buy another one from https://www3.tivo.com/store/accessories.do#A00510
