Hmm,

I checked when I noticed the problem and it wasn't referenced at all in the "why this won't be recorded" section of the To Do list.

At the time, my Tivo only had things on the To Do list for 6 or 8 hours beyond this showing. I don't know when my last guide data download was, but I wonder if it would have changed if I'd waited for some background indexing. I'll never know for sure because I hit "Record this episode also".

Yep. 90% of my SPs are First-Run Only. Otherwise, you get all the older episodes when a series like Entourage reruns a previous season right before a new season starts (like they just did).

The only thing to be aware of when you do this is the occasional oddball series that for some unique reason has an older "Original Air Date". Example: Secret Diary of a Call Girl wasn't being recorded by a FRO SP because they used the dates it originally ran on BBCA, so the SP didn't consider them First Run. But I'm aware enough of my To-Do List that when I see an anomaly like this, I can quickly fix the SP.
