Now that TIVO has added streaming video for youtube, I suspect that we will see the ability to stream video from Amazon soon as well.
I would love to see the Netflix connectivity but this is very cool as well.

Amazon Unbox on TiVo is already offered as a progressive download. Which looks a lot like streaming if you have enough bandwith and buffer. Doubt we'll see any changes in how it's distributed.

You are correct that for watch-ability purposes there is not much difference. I am thinking more on the business model side.
NETFLIX offers streaming downloads as part of a reasonably priced package. Amazon offers only downloads, pricing is for the most part ridiculous and then they delete it within 24 hours.
Nothing there to keep me from running over to Redbox for a dollar...

Pricing is pretty consistent with Apple TV, Vudu, Xbox, cable video on demand - plus the rental watch period is prescribed by the studios. Netflix has much more favorable terms - watch all you want, but you won't find any current blockbusters. Not yet, any way.
