My Humax DRT400 DVR w/DVD gave out recently. Can't get past Welcome screen. I called support and went through some steps but determined that it wasn't going to boot. Probably a hard drive problem. I ordered a new Series 2 DVR (didn't notice that I wasn't getting the DVD with this one - bummer). My question is: is there a way that I can try to format the HD on my old one (wipe all Tivo startup stuff) and try to use it as a standalone DVR/DVD? Even being able to use DVD player by itself would be nice.
