I notice some of my subscribed podcasts do not transfer from iTunes/Tivo Desktop reliably. I check the folder and new episodes are there, but it didn't transfer to Tivo. Sometimes they do transfer and sometimes they don't.
I downloaded a new podcast from another show and it transferred immediately and the podcast for the other program from earlier today still didn't copy to the Tivo.

This is a video podcast that is also listed as available for downloading directly from the Tivo, but the newest episode in the Tivo podcast guide was weeks old even though new daily episodes were in iTunes, so I switched to subscribing via iTunes.

Is there a log that lists errors or reasons why a podcast didn't transfer automatically?

I have the same problem. I have Tivo Desktop Plus v2.6.2 and a Series2 Tivo (with whatever the current firmware is). I download video podcasts via iTunes. Sometimes it uploads new episodes, but frequently not. I have a couple daily podcasts that it has not uploaded in several days. But it will upload others. All the podcasts are branched from the default iTunes podcast folder, which I added to Tivo Desktop Plus in the share video section of the program. Auto-transfer to DVR and Include Subfolders are both Yes.

What's up with that? How do I force or increase the reliability of podcast auto-transfer?

Thank you for your help.

Steve

Like you guys, I initially was happy with how quickly Tivo Desktop Plus 2.6.2 started sending files over to the Tivo when I first selected the folders to "watch." Then a few days pass and only a small subset of files continue to be updated... even the daily shows aren't coming.

I called Tivo technical support today. My question, I thought, was simple: how often does Tivo Desktop Plus actually "watch" the folders, meaning, how often does it scan for new files, then convert them if necessary and send them to the Tivo? I need to know this to correctly set my Juice Receiver software's "cleanup" feature, so I don't purge my received files too quickly. THEY DIDN'T KNOW. They admitted that nobody at their tech support really knew the product inside and out. Apparently, a company named Digital River actually wrote the software. When I called Digital River, nobody wanted to talk to me; they wanted to refer me back to Tivo tech support despite my protests. They finally flatly said that their "responsibility" with regard to the product was limited to the "e-commerce" part of charging us $24.95 for this (questionable) upgrade.

I will check out pyTivo, and if that's successful, I'll just have to consider my $24.95 a tax-deductible charitable deduction for the year. :)

mcvfloyd, let us know if that works for you. I don't know that program. Will it upload the video podcasts from iTunes (what I use to automatically download my podcasts)?
