How exactly is this suppose to work? Have a S3SA, I have a non-PVR Comcast HD cable box. Do I even need the Comcast box anymore? Am I suppose to pull a card out of it and put into the Tivo? Do I need to order more cards from Comcast?
When I hook-up the cable from the wall direct into the Tivo I only get basic cable, channels 1-88. even after a search no Digital/HD show up on the Tivo.
When I have the Comcast box in the loop, the Tivo can't detect ANY channels, stuck on the "searching cable input" screen.

You basically need Comcast to come out and replace your existing Comcast box with 2 cablecards, they will then put those into your Series 3. The bay area has recently started allowing customers to install their own cablecards, so call them and find out. You could be up and running as soon as it takes you to nip down to the comcast shop.
Oh, and makesure you've read the FAQ (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=315791)

I took the Comcast box out & returned it to Comcast. I picked up the dual channel cable card & installed it in Tivo. You only get the basic channels until you install the new cable card. Comcast provided the card free of charge. You need to call Comcast to get the new card enabled after you put it in Tivo.

You need _two_ cablecards in the S3.. (vs one "M" card in the Tivo HD.) They can be M cards, but you need two of them... or else you are single-tuner regardless of what channel you record from.
