View Full Version : Not getting any video playout anymore - any ideas?

I have had a Tivo running for some years with a 120 GB hard disk + the original 30 GB.

It recently started to freeze occasionally on recording leaving a static picture on screen where it stopped. The remote buttons have no effect so had to power it of and on again; which seemed to work OK until it froze again.

The last time I powered it off the picture did not come back and I'm no longer getting any play-out from the box.

The power light and fan come on and the hard drive makes a starting noise but no picture. I tried putting the original 15 GB drive back in but still getting no picture.

Does anyone have an idea or have you come across this before.

Thanks for any help...

Hi, when you say you put the original 15Gb drive back in was that by itself?

Anyway, I would suspect one or both of the drives in your Tivo are playing up and would try a new single drive.

If you have no good backup, a thread does exist on this forum for help but by far the easiest is to buy a pre-configured drive which just has to be plugged in...

Hi, when you say you put the original 15Gb drive back in was that by itself?

i.e. Automan is saying where has the 30Gb drive that was partnered with it gone?

See www.tivocentral.co.uk or www.tivoheaven.co.uk if you want to buy a pre-prepared drive you can simply drop in as a replacement. A 160 Gb pre-prepared drive costs as little as £49 delivered from the cheapest of the above suppliers.
