I have read DOZENS of threads on multiple simultaneous video outputs (specifically HDMI and component), including the posibility o fneeding the HDMI connected device powered up, HDCP issues and all that. It seems to work for most, but not for some. I am still going to probably give this a try.

One thing I have not read about is simultaneous audio outputs, are HDMI audio, optical audio and composite all active at the same time? Will the composite L/R audio still work (for 2 channel) even if the HDMI audio or optical audio are doing 5.1?

Thanks
Jason

Yes, the analog outputs are simultaneously active.

Yes, the analog outputs are simultaneously active.

Excellent, thank you for the quick response. My current setup is not comprehensive enough to test this setup, but with this knowledge it will soon be!

This may have been covered in those other threads you mentioned, but thought I would point it out just in case:

The HDMI output is only activated when the TiVo senses a connection during a signal change. I may not have said that exactly right, but let me try to explain it. I have my S3 connected to my TV with HDMI and my DVD recorder with s-video. The s-video output is live all the time, but if I happen to be watching the signal passed through the DVD recorder (the s-video output from S3) and restart the TiVo, then think to switch the TV input to the HDMI, it will be blank until the next screen change during startup. During normal TV viewing this switching is not a problem.

Another indication of this same thing is to look at the System Information. If I bring up that screen while watching the s-video output, it shows HDMI status is "not connected" even tho the cable is there, but if I bring up the system information while watching the HDMI output I see the HDMI status as "HDCP enabled".

Most of the time this makes no difference at all, but you might occasionally get surprised to switch to an HDMI display and not see a signal!
