I'm about to switch back to the tivo worll --
I assume the current HD TiVo (20 hr model) now supports multiroom viewing between two TiVo HD units?
and
I assume all you have to do is plug in an eSATA drive to increase space, its not like directv where it kills the built-in drive though correct, it adds to it. and it sets it up for you with a walk through on screen? and no extra cost to enable?
thanks

MRV isn't a problem but the HD Tivo only recognizes the "official" expansion unit (WD MyDVR) which only comes in a 500GB size at the moment. You can do an internal drive replacement with pretty much any SATA drive but I believe doing so eliminates the ability to do an external expansion.

It doesn't eliminate the ability to add a second drive, it just eliminates the ability to do it automatically, without pulling the primary drive. OTOH, if we're talking about using anything other than the WD MyDVR Expander, and if we're talking about upgrading the internal drive with any drive, that option doesn't exist in the first place.

Just to try to make this clear for new users, if you want to just add an eSATA drive to your THD without opening it up, your only choice is the WD My DVR Expander. If you want to either upgrade your THD internal hard drive AND/OR add any eSATA drive other than the approved WD drive, it is extremely easy to do, but you will have to pull the THD drive and mount it on a computer to accomplish. Just go to the Official eSATA drive expansion thread here: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=370784
and read the first post. It is long, but well organized, and all of the information you need is there. The WinMFS tool referenced is EXTREMELY easy to use, and the step-by-step instructions in the thread are perfect. Good luck.
