both me and the wife miss how well tivo just works not to mention some bad rain fade with Dish

So where we live is CableVision territory (Litchfield CT Market)

My biggest questions are:

- what channels (HD/SD) will we miss due to SDV?
- any rumors of when and if CV will switch more over to SDV in the Litchfield market

- I should get the newer non S3 HD TiVo as its more understanding with the M type CableCard?

Anything else I should look out for?

Thank you in advance
John

At this point I would save my money and rent a box from Cable Vision until the new S4 HD TiVo come out or SDV adapter for TiVo HD come out.

there are two TiVo models in HD
one is called the S3, as it came out first
and then the second go round that was made to hit a lower price point but also benefited from lessons learned in the S3 is called the TiVo HD.

The TiVo HD does do M-cards better but cable companies differ by region so you need to find out about M-card use and SDV as you note.

There is a series 4 that has been somewhat rumored about by TiVo inc. but it may well be 2010 befor we see it so I would not wait around if you want TiVo.

If anything, I'd get a TiVo HD and a provider's DVR box until the TA is released in the local market, then dump the provider's box.
