Greetings,
I purchased Toast 8 Titanium specifically (and only) to use the TiVo downloading and playback features. However, it appears to be unstable and flakey in the extreme.
I transferred a number of SD programs from my Series3 to my Mac (running 10.5.3). When I play them, the transport controls don't work properly. Sometimes the skip-ahead button actually skips backwards! If I try to fast-forward, the play head jumps back 30 seconds before fast-forward begins, and when I release the fast-forward mode, the playhead jumps again, so that I often have to sit through about 30 seconds worth of commercial.
These same shows play perfectly on the S3.
I did the transfers with Toast 8.0.3, and when I encountered these problems, I did update to 8.0.4 but I have the same playback problems.
Worse yet, one of the programs plays with skips in the audio and video. Once again, this program plays perfectly on the S3.
As an experiment, I used TiVo Download Manager to transfer and convert the exact same program from the S3, and it plays flawlessly in VLC.
I'm wondering if these problems are common with Toast 8, and whether anybody has found a solution. I absolutely will *not* pay Roxio to upgrade to Toast 9 to fix functionality that I have already paid for, but I would be interested to know whether 9 fixes these problems. If so, I may try to see if they would upgrade me because 8 didn't work properly.
I don't have much interest in burning the programs to DVD or anything -- I just like to take shows with me when I travel.
(I did submit a support request to Roxio, but it has been nearly a week without a reply...)
