stuck on "nearly there...please wait a few seconds"

Have had a Tivo working for 4 years then after a on-off-on-off power cut it stuck on "nearly there". Purchased a second off e-bay and that worked till we go struck by lightning...Only displays "nearly there". Purchased a third....after a week it stopped working displaying..you guessed "nearly there" What can I do! Have tried swapping drives, it makes no difference.

Did you try applyiong a fresh image to a fresh drive?

If your power is troublesome, run your TiVo off a UPS.

I had installed a large drive years earlier so I checked by reinstalling the original factory drive....no difference.
Yes, perhaps a UPS for my #4!
