hello friends
i have tivo series 2 DVR C610 (120Gb) that i purchased last year. It is out of warranty. last week out of the blue it stopped booting up. i have tried 2 things based on some threads
1) unplugged all cables (USB, IR, power etc), wait for 30 sec, plug back in. no improvement.
2) try to pause during boot cycle to force one of software routines people have suggested like press #2 then other and so on. but nothing happens when i hit pause on remote during boot.
the led switches between yellow and red for few seconds and then settles on red. i did some searches but couldn;t find anything related.
is this familiar to anyone? any related threads someone can point me to? anything else i can try?
thanks for help
MVS

What exactly do you have? Never heard of any Tivo with the numbers C610 and searches come up with nothing.

Maybe C610 are the last four digits of his TSN?

@mvsagar: do you even see the initial "please wait, starting up" screen? Or do you get no boot screens at all? It could be the power supply ...

As for the kickstart procedure ... there isn't one that uses just 2. What you need to do is hold down Pause while the unit is booting until both sets of LEDs stay on. Then press 5 and then 4 on the remote and that should kick off the hard drive test.

yeah 610 is probably something that doesn't matter. there is no bootscreen at all. it fails in very initial stage.but i do hear fan going at the back. it could still be power supply. power supply has failed before in my other dell pc in my house. so i won;t be surprised if it is power supply. i am willing to buy one new and try if u can tell me where to buy one from. also could it be hard drive fail?

People with a non-Tivo dvr do ask for help with their "Tivo" so I just wanted to know if the OP had a Tivo or not.

What's the TCD, written on the label on the back of the box?

there is no bootscreen at all.
If it was an HD failure you should at least see the "powering up" initial bootscreen since that's built into the ROM. If you're seeing no video, it's most likely a power supply issue. You can get power supplies from weaknees.com (http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-power-supply.php).
