I got a used HR10-20. It is still running the 3.1.5-01-2-357 software.

I've got it plugged in via phone and activitaved via directv. All is well

I have been using it for a little more than six weeks now - but still no 6.3+ software

Anyway I can get the upgrade?

Beware of what you wish for. A good percentage of people have had problems with some or all of the 6.X.x versions. I am one of them. I went back to 3.1.5f back in March and have not looked back. It has been as solid as a rock. Not even a hiccup. No more unhappy wifey. The core functionality is more important to me than the new features in version 6.X.x.

I also have an HR20-100. In spite of problems many have had with that unit, mine has been pretty reliable but, it let me down a few times. I trust the HR10 more.

Now, to answer your question, it should have upgraded by itself automatically. I have the 6.4a slices sitting on mine. Where did you buy it. Is it possible that it is a "hacked" unit? It might have update feature turned off.

it is a 2nd hand unit I got for $40 at a auction. I know nothing about it. Perhaps hacked, but I did have to fix the access card contacts, and when I had the box open - it all looks original parts. Original HD etc.

I really don't care about minor bugs and don't use this box a lot (mostly for camping in the RV and on my slingbox). Mostly want the folders as the list of programs gets SO long
