This was one of the best episodes of the year. I liked the "Ghostbusters" references, including Reitman University and the villain being the recipient of the prestigious Egon Spengler award. :D

I'm glad to see Tyler return as there was definite palatable chemistry between Natalie Morales and the actor.

I'm getting more and more impressed with Matt Keeslar's acting (he was able to run the gamut this week) every week even though I'd never heard of him before this show premiered.

Don't forget that their code names were the Gatekeeper and the Key Master. I think they also mentioned that the house was at Ray Parker Jr Avenue(I think).

This was the best episode yet. Some of the funniest lines. And there is good chemistry between Dub Dub and Tyler.

And she's not wearing much of that suit anymore. How much sooner are we to that leather outfit she wears during the intro?

And she mentioned a PKE meter, which was Egon's toy in the movie.

Every episode seems to have a geeky touchstone to steal references from (Ghostbusters, Dune, etc.)...

Not to mention Back to the Future. I was just going to mention that. I'll have to go through the references to find out which episode had which "thematic geeky touchstone." This is another reason why I like this show. It adds another layer on top of the regular episode of the week.

I love playing find the geek reference with this show. I also like when they play with the Time like they have done on an episode or two.

In response to the current conversation we've been having about thematic geeky touchstones, I've compiled this unofficial list. The show does reference many other geek stuff, but they're usually minor and mentioned once. The stuff listed below are things that show up all over the episode.

"The Pilot Episode Sanction" - All over the place
"The Accidental Occidental Conception" - Dune
"The Sino-Mexican Revelation" - All over the place, like the pilot
"The Mancoid Teleportation Conundrum" - Back to the Future
"The Flying Fish Zombification" - The Zombies (a band)
"The Boyband Superfan Interrogation" - Indiana Jones (how'd I miss this one? there was a plethora of in-jokes)
"The Cursed Tuba Contingency" - Obviously, Titanic, but some of the aliases in this show reference westerns.
"The Ectoplasmic Panhellenic Investigation" - Ghostbusters

Interestingly enough the ones that are "all over the place" are the two episodes based on the comic book series and not originally written for television.

My (Comcast) feed of this show is frequently messed up in one way or another. For this episode the audio was messed up - for the first 5 minutes or so all I got was the background music and sound effects and no dialog. Then the dialog suddenly popped in. Very strange.

I had the same thing (only the stereo speakers of the 5.1 sound)...so unless you're in Minneapolis, I suspect in this case it was a national HD feed issue. Probably somebody at Family messed up on the switchover from SD to HD when they came back from commercials.

There were no issues here. At least none that resulted in any concern or observation of an audio problem.

This may seem like a dumb question, but is The Middleman being broadcast in HD?

Yes, on ABC Family HD. Looks a lot better.

Hmmm...I don't see any indication on different listing sites that it's HD. If they're upscaling, they're doing a great job...

Considering there are 720p downloads available, I'm sure it's in HD somewhere.

Yeah, that's what threw me off. I've been watching it on the SD channel, will give it a shot on ABC HD.

Thanks guys.
