Long Way Down - Entire Series - Spoilers

Anyone watching? It's showing on Fox Reality and replaying it a lot.

It's Ewan McGregor and his friend riding a 'motorbike' from Scotland to South Africa.

I loved 'Long Way Around' and loved this first episode. It's so entertaining and funny, very funny. They may heighten the 'drama' factor a bit (they made it seem like they were being attacked by men with guns, when it was just a training.. i believed for a split second.)

Yes, I've seen the entire series already. It was good, but IMHO not as good as the original Long Way Round they did a few years ago. The first one seemed like something they would have done anyway, and they just took the cameras along for the ride. This one (at the beginning anyway) seemed more like the cameras were the point of it all. Ewan in particular seemed like he didn't care to be there. But it gets better the second half I think.

I didn't get that impression at all about Ewan. Especially because he was so bummed when he broke his leg. I do think decaling the cars with their sponsors is a bit ridiculous.

I hope this one is good too. I enjoyed the Way Round. I don't understand having the wife with him. Charlie is asking the same thing. If the path is any thing like it was on the last trip, any person with no cycling background should not do it. IIRC she showed up at the end of the last one. I guess she can't be away from Ewin to long.

Enjoyed Round and looking forward to Down. Does anyone else find it interesting that the basically unknown partner has a much hotter wife than the superstar actor?

Charlie and his wife could not possibly be more dissimilar! This is especially apparent if you've seen Race to Dakar. How that match got made is beyond reason.

Either I forgot or they did a bad job of saying so in the episodes, but they are doing this for a few charities: Rider's for Health, CHAS, & Unicef.

So i retract my statement about the ridiculous sponsorship because in Episode 2 they visit the children's hospice center (CHAS) they raised money for from the first ride, which was quite touching.

I don't think the cameras are the point of it all because this is how they are raising money plus they are fun to watch and produce some really entertaining episodes.

I have finally gotten around to getting a copy of "season 2" of this series. And, while the charity stuff is wonderful and a great idea, the first 2 episodes are slow. I felt like I was watching a TV show more than I did last time. Last time I felt like I was peaking in on their trip.

However starting with Episode 3, Ewan seems to call BS on the current way the trip is going and that seems to straighten it out. We have only just finished episode 3 so I can't comment on the rest of the series yet, but they seem to have taken a turn in the right direction. The people, places that they see are what makes this show so amazing.

It's also pretty cool how humble Ewan, not what I could consider a typical "moviestar"

I still haven't seen the last episode, episode 8. The guide said it was the finale but recorded ep 7 and fox reality are not reruning it any time soon, which I think is lame. Besides getting it on DVD (is it on DVD?), anyone know where to find the finale?

Same thing happened to me on DirecTV.

Fox reality channel, what a joke of a channel, you would think that they could at least get the right episode on in the right time slot. Since this is one of their only shows, you would think they would try to get things right. I was recording this for someone else that doesn't get this channel on their cable. I think I'll just go back and block the channel (as it was before).
