So when we finally move, it will be to an area that offers Comcast. We've been with DTV for 9 years. I'm definitely getting cable modem, but I was thinking I'd stick with DTV, because i love my DirecTivo.
Any reason to choose cable over DTV?

Comcast offers reduced prices on combo deals such as Internet + cable TV. I used pay $50 for my DSL line and $70 for a DISH Network package, now I pay $80 for both to Comcast and I'm getting more HD channels with it.
Plus you could get a TiVoHD.

I'm a long-time subscriber to DirecTV with no plans to change that, but if you won't be going beyond the DirecTivo with them and can get a good deal on cable, that may be the way to go. You'll potentially be missing out on a lot by not upgrading with DirecTV, especially if you have any plans to go HD.
I'm not familiar with TiVoHD, but in analyzing a change, I would also consider any subscription charges for new (to you) TiVos. Last time I looked, it was a lot more expensive per month for the TiVos than for my DirecTV HD DVRs.
Good luck!

I switched from DirecTV to cable myself so I could stay with a TiVo (TiVo HD).
In hindsight, I should have evaluated it a bit more - I get about 10 channels in HD - lots of major cable networks I don't get in HD (FX, USA, etc) and it'd be nice to have them.

According to DirecTv's site, a DVR adds $5.99/month after rebate. A new Tivo can be had for as little as $8.25/month with a 1 year contract ($99). Lifetime on a TivoHD can be $299 total. Over 5 years, your monthly Tivo bill would be $4.98/month (minus unit cost). Considering how long the Tivo units tend to last (my first and oldest is 4 years old), you may end up saving money with the Tivo. You'll be able to get a bargain on your first year or so of service from Comcast. I received my internet at half price for six months(which has ended) and my total bill, including the baseball package, internet, and every available non PPV channel, is about $167/month. There is a decent assortment of HD channels but my parents receive a better selection on Cablevision. Compare and contrast is your best solution IMO.
