Well, I had Mediacom here again today, this is now the 3rd visit and the second Cablecard I've had. After spending another 2 hours on the phone with Tivo we basically determined it is probably not the Tivos fault. My "Conditional Access" screen under AUTH says MP, I know it should say S. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to get Mediacom to understand this.

I hate to give up but I've missed two half days of work now dealing with this and I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

UPDATE: I've just had my 5th visit from Mediacom. This marks around 12 hours of my time trying to get this sorted out. Needless to say, I'm not happy. We've tried 3-4 M cards now, talked to countless techs and the job is being escalated to some outfit in New York. Supposed to hear back from them yet again today. I'm going to try 2 S cards next if they can't figure out the AUTH: S vs MP problem that Tivo says is the problem.

I feel your pain.

After numerous issues with my cable company I bought an indoor antennae and am just using basic + OTA. You'll also get some unencrypted QAM channels (but no guide data), most likely the networks and whatever they are too lazy/inept to encrypt.

Not sure if you need to have ESPN HD, etc which can be a deal breaker for some. But not having to depend on the cable company is great.

Abouna, I have Mediacom and went through the same pain. It took 3 trips and the techs couldn't get it working. Finally I talked to somebody at the local office and she was able to configure my account correctly and it started working. I don't know why they have such a problem with this.

Hey, I'm in CR also! Wish you knew the name and number of that person. Fat chance getting a local on the phone.

Go to the local office and ask for the manager.
