Ok, after hearing about all of these S3 owners with freezing/reboot problems, I started wondering if the problems tend to appear during a certain period of the TiVo's life.

So, if you've had problems with your TiVo S3 locking up or rebooting, how long did you have the TiVo before the problems first occurred?

Is this just for freezing or the other stuttering, lock up, constant rebooting rendering it DOA?

I meant all of the above - freezing, stuttering, rebooting, etc., etc., etc.

I put 9-11 months since that's how long I had it, BUT, to be fair, I'm not sure how old it is since I got it refurbished. I'm calling the Tivo people today to flip out.

I had two that both died at 10 months, and I saw a few other posts that mentioned 9-10 months, so I just wanted to see if it is a trend.

Hmmm that would be weird if that's the case... I'm on hold w/ Tech Support right how even though idk what they're gonna tell me. He's trying to find the name of some software that might help out? I'll report back what I find.

Sidenote, quite possibly the most annoying robot voice repeating the same message over and over again... Never thought I'd encounter something more irritating then hold music but, yup...this wins, hahaha

EDIT: Nice rep... Put me on hold for like 5 mins while he asked around and came back to reprot that once I get 9.4 I should be ok... Unfortunately for him, I already did get 9.4 and no dice. On hold again.

EDIT AGAIN: Official word is that they're working on releasing another software upgrade to specifically address the freeze/reboot issue in the "VERY near future." Unfortunatly, that's as specific as he could get. I did get the last two months credited since my S3 has been reduced to a decoration.

I think Pony mentioned 9.4 will fix a lot of the problems with the TivoHD but not the S3.

Never a problem with my S3. My Tivo HD has only had the occasional freeze.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but the HDD in my S3 died roughly one month after the warranty expiration. Thanks to the help this forum provided I was back up and running in no time.

Mine was about a year after first usage. It sat in the box for a few months for my HD tv.

Are we sure that a patch is in order to fix it or is it the hard drive itself? I replaced my hard drive and now it works again.
