I am looking to buy 2 or 3 TiVo HD units & am looking for a good deal. I called TiVo last night & the rep told me they have a 249.99 deal going for new units w/ the wireless card and 3 months free! I told her to sign me up! She said, oh - this is only for existing customers. Ugh. Anyone know how to get this deal w/o being an existing customer? I'll gladly sign up for a year of service.

What deals do you guys know of? Thoughts?

If you have a Costco membership, some stores have limited stocks of the TiVoHD at $219.99. Note that the online price is MUCH higher, $279.99. If you don't find it at your local store, someone mentioned that if you ask them to look it up in their computer, they can find the nearest store that has it in stock.

Amazon sometimes has it for under $250, but as of a few minutes ago it was $252, and that does not include the wireless adapter that TiVo is offering. Amazon's prices do change frequently, so I recommend you check them often, and if you do find a lower price from them within 30 days after buying they will refund you the difference. If it drops again within those 30 days they will still refund you the difference.

If you don't mind getting a refurbished one with the same warranty as brand new, TiVo is offering them for $179.99, without adapter.

As far as the subscription itself, that will be $12.95/month for the first box (unless you buy Lifetime at $399), each additional TiVo is $9.95/month or $299 Lifetime.

Before you shell out your hard earned money - be aware that TiVo adds advertising to it's menus and intends to increase its advertising presence to include vending products through Amazon using promotions during commercials and on live programming.

Amazon has been as low as $215 for the Tivo HD. If you plan on streaming HD programs between your Tivo HD boxes, you might want to consider using wired ethernet between them rather than wireless if possible.

If you want lifetime, find a friend who is a Tivo account holder and have them sub your first box for $299. Then have them transfer ownership of the box to you under a new Tivo account. Wait 30 days for your account to clear the grace period and then you can sub additional ones for lifetime yourself.

During the 30 day trial period, you can make sure you like what you're getting yourself into and whether your cable company can handle Tivo HDs before making further investment. There are plenty of stories on here of people with CableCard issues that are completely the fault of the cable company.

When using the TiVo branded wireless adapter (the only one that will work with the TiVo HD), you will see comparable transfer rates to wired. Because the adapter offloads most of the processing, you will see speeds in some situations faster than wired. The bottle neck for transfers on TiVos has always been the CPU, not the network speed limit.

I am not a current subscriber & thought I would call & talk to them about it as this would get me to purchased qty=3 of them. They said NO. Seems weird they are offering great incentives to CURRENT customers but doing nothing to lure NEW customers. They are only offering the TiVo HD units for $299 to me, for that price = I'll keep my %^!! Comcrap box.

It's an incentive program designed to help existing paying SD Tivo owners upgrade to HD/digital capable tuners. It's also apparently not very widespread.

Go the Costco or Amazon route.

buy one at Costco or where ever then you are an 'existing' customer and get the deal on the next two.

Odd that the deal fo a new unit and not involving a transfer of service from some old unit is not available to new customers though

We have NO intention to interrupt shows with product purchase.
