Weird Skipping Issue

I have a tivo that is almost a year old, the problem is whenever I am in the channel guide looking through the channels the tivo skips between channels, I press the button on the remote to move the channel down one, and it skips through like 3 or 4 channels. I tried using both my universal remote and the tivo remote to see if it was a remote control problem and it does it with both remotes.

Also, when I am in the tivo menus, it does the same thing. It will jump around to different selections while I am scrolling through the menus. It will no longer just move from one selection to the other.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a case of IR interference from another source. Is there another remote sitting around that has a book (or cat) sitting on it? Any remotes with a key stuck?

jrm, thanks for the response but is definatley not a remote problem, it will just jump or skip on its own. It will even do it when I am just sitting watching tv with the remotes in a put away. I am not sure what it is at all. Confusing.

It still sounds like a stray IR signal. You sure you don't have an old one under a cushion on your couch? Any new CFL light bulbs in the room?
