I just noticed something odd about my season pass selections... on only about 1/2 of them can I change the video quality, for the others the option isn't even there. I assume when this is the case it records at the default for the system, but why can't I change it per show. There's no real pattern to it either. Some shows in both categories (can and can't) I setup a season pass for on the Tivo itself and some are shows I did it over the network.
Any hints/clues/suggestions...

If a show is being recorded off a digital channel, and you have a Series 3 or TiVoHD model, the TiVo records the stream as it comes from your cable provider. There is no provision to adjust the recording quality. That could be the reason why you can adjust it on some shows but not on others.

It is a TivoHD. I'll have to check out which channels can/can't, that didn't occur to me :o thx
EDIT: DOH! :o I just found this mentioned in the manual as well (first time I opened it ;) guess I should look through the rest of it sometime too). Apologies for the RTFM ???

If you have any leftover SPs from analog sources that are now digital and have the same mapping, they will still have the quality setting, but will record as digital. I have some still recording and my A/V receiver tells me that the audio is now digital and I assume that video is as well.
