I know there are a few threads about this but no one posted the solution at the end.

I originally posted this:

http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=398916

after adding the ,#019 I was able to dial in the first toll free number but can't get the program call to work.
I get service not answering on all the local numbers.

I called Tivo and asked if their service is down and they said: WE DON"T HAVE ACCESS to that info:mad:, but that yes he saw a pattern of people calling about the same issue for different part of the country.

He suggested that maybe I should consider buying a Tivo 2 or 3.

WEll my Tivo worked just fine for almost 3 years. I really would like to NOT spend 200 for a new Tivo and 400 for the lifetime service.

PLease does anyone figured out how to work around this issue???

I tried removing the phone, the line is straight to the modem added ,#019
i must have tried 1000 times.

I'm curious as to how you managed to connect with Vonage. To my knowledge TiVo only works over Time-Warner, AT&T, and Comcast VOIP only.

Other than that...I can't think of anything beyond environmental issues or something with the Comcast/Vonage.

I have Vonage (which I really like) and other than the initial setup and testing the access number, for the last 2 months or so, I haven't been able to connect to any access numbers to get guide info or updates.

So..... last weekend, I bought a WUSB11 Linksys Wireless device to hook up to my Tivo and connect through my wireless router. It just came in today's mail, so I'll hook it up when I get home this evening and report back here. :)

Try serial PPP.

As for a new TiVo;
You don't need to buy Product Lifetime. There are prepay and monthly options that might be better for your short term financial situation. Product Lifetime is $299 if you are an existing subscriber anyways, and you can get hardware deals, if not secondhand units.

How do you perform serial PPP?
Can you send me more info? steps?

Thanks

I received my wireless device today, plugged it into the USB port, my Tivo immediately saw it and I was able to connect through my wireless router without any trouble at all!! This is the slickest thing I've seen for Tivo. The update download took maybe 4 minutes.

If you have a wireless router, you can get a WUSB11 Linksys wireless access device on eBay for $20.98 (that includes S/H).

Love it! :)

yeah that won't work for me because I have a tivo which doesn't have a USB port.

Just search the internet for "Tivo serial ppp". You should get something.
