Simple question: In a household with two TiVos, both hooked up to the same household network, how do you prevent the two units from seeing each other's Now Playing lists? There don't seem to be any Settings options to do this.

Turn of MRV (Allow Transfers) on the Tivo website.

The more you fight their relationship the harder they will want to be together. Your best bet is to simply stand by and trust that you raised them correctly and that they will learn, on their own, that they are not right for each other. It is a stage many TiVos go through. It is painful but part of growing up.
Or you could do what magnus said. :)

Thank you both -- Magnus for the advice and Jakerock for a much needed chuckle.
However, it turns out the question isn't as simple as I first thought. My home network has two DVRs and two PCs. What I'd really like is to enable transfers between DVR1 and PC1, and DVR2 and PC2, while keeping everything else separated. I know how to keep two PCs secure from each other, but it looks like with a TiVo it's an all-or-nothing proposition, unless there's something I'm missing.
(And bit of an aside here, but why is MVR something that's turned on and off in your account profile, and not something that's done directly on the DVR?)

Ahh, I knew I could count on you guys! :D I saw this thread off the home page and tuned in hoping to find just this kind of response. As soon as I read the question I thought like that but didn't have an immediate clever way to reply. Jakerock you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for the good laugh!

I think it's easier for the mothership to send the signal down to all the boxes to turn it on/off than for the box to turn it on and send it back out and back down.
maybe something like that, or it was just easier for them to code that way :D

I think it has to do with security. You need to have account access to change it from the website. Locally anyone could do it. But I don't really know.
You could set up your TiVos on different subnets so that they don't see each other... You are trying for a non standard set-up which probably isn't going to be easy.

Depending on how far you are willing to go, you could try this. Add (if you don't already have) a second network interface to one of the PC's. Connect the TiVo to it (make sure that you use a crossover cable) and put that interface and it's TiVo on a separate network, i.e 192.168.2.xxx. If you are using your network for the TiVo to call home, enable the second network interface for ICS. Or add a second router.
Does that make sense???

it is not simple and you will need to use TCCP/IP and routing of same like people are suggesting.
Should the two PCs see each other?
if not, a second router with a different IP set of numbers would be easiest for the home network admin;) Will still take some research and noodling though.
I would look at subnet masks myself and set the TiVos up so one set of TiVo/PC is hidden from the other. Requires knowledge of subnet masks and you would have to set the IP info directly on all the TiVos and PCs. I do not have that at the top of my head and not gonna look it up, sorry.

I do not recall if kidzone hides DVRS and PCs from now playing but if kids are the reason then kidzon could be a simple way. - Also ratings control can work as well.

Would something like this work putting them on separate subnets.
Address Range 192.168.1.129 - 192.168.1.254
PC1 192.168.1.129
DVR1 192.168.1.130
Mask 255.255.255.128
broadcast 192.168.1.255
Address Range 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.126
PC2 192.168.1.1
DVR2 192.168.1.2
Mask 255.255.255.128
Broadcast 192.168.1.127
Gateway stays what it was before.
