Seeking clear instructions on using old tivo to buffer live tv

I would love to connect our old tivos to use the 30 minute buffer.
I've tried to do it, following instructions that I believe I found here - but I didn't understand exactly what connections to make :confused:.
I am the tivo/tv/cable expert in the house, but I am not an engineer!

Before I recycle these 2 oldies, I'd like to try again to get a very useful addition to our less-used tvs.

If there is a thread which explains what to do, can a generous person direct me to it?

Assuming they are standalones, all you need to do is connect them up as normal, and repeat guided setup for the sort of source you have.

Thanks, I am trying to remember exactly what my difficulty was, and I think it was the guided set-up that threw me off, as I probably thought I needed to be connected to Tivo service to do that.

I will try again, with more courage!
