Tivo HD freeze issue

Ok ive browsed the 'like' issues in other threads, but im not convinced this is similar to other freeze problems. This is a Tivo Hd...i did replace the hdd with a 750GB internal WD drive.

This happens on live tv or recorded, pretty much intermittently: It just freezes. No sound, just dead freeze. The recording continues to record. Generally an 8sec backwards skip will get it right back on track ...sometimes I have to click back 2x (16 seconds). FF fixes it sometimes, but not as consistently.

I have rebooted several times, and maybe that makes it happen less frequently, but i cant be sure. This has been happening just for a couple of weeks now. It can go a day without doing it, and then do it regularly. TV is on pretty often, 4-6 hours a day maybe (ugggh).

I thought maybe it happened only during live tv, but now i am certain it happens during recorded shows as well.

anybody else have this? could it be the hdd (the hdd was replaced maybe 5 months ago)...

That's a good one to watch, as the TiVo reps are tracking it and occasionally post reports on what they're doing to try to fix it.

Your symptoms are not quite as bad as most (most people need to do a reboot to unfreeze the box, at least temporarily), but it does sound quite similar. I also had cases early on when I could unfreeze it by rewinding, but that no longer does it, I need to reboot.
