View Full Version : Time is off after TivoHD random reboots

Hello,

I am having what I believe is similar to what many many others are talking about with their Tivos but I haven't seen anything about the clock after reboots so I thought I would ask if anybody else is seeing this.

My TivoHD, unmodified with the MyDVR expander and a single M-card is randomly rebooting at least 1 a day. Sometimes it happens after the picture freezes or starts to stagger and sometimes it just happens when everything looks smooth and happy.

Anyways, most of the time after the reboot, the clock on the Tivo will be off by 5-10 minutes. It will stay this way until the Tivo either connects to the service itself or I force a connection. My guess is the time the clock is off is the same as the amount of time it is down during the reboot but I have not confirmed this.

So has anybody else seen this as well? I could have dealt with the reboots a little more if the clock was okay afterwards but since it really likes rebooting in the late afternoon and I'm not home, I keep missing the first 5-10 minutes of primetime shows!

A call to Tivo a couple weeks ago about this got me the "it's your cable card" response and yes, I didn't see any reboots without the cablecard installed but it also was never tuned to any HD channels during that time either so to me that's circular reasoning.

Thanks,
Mark

Assuming you are networked, ensure that your DNS settings are correct.

I don't understand your point. The network is fine and it can connect to the service no problem. That is what I have to do to get the time to sync up. The problem is losing the time during the reboot. DNS settings shouldn't have any bearing on that.
