Pretty funny stuff.

What was with all the Dune references? "Fifty daffodils to Shaddam at the House of Corrino"? "Frank Herbert Jr. High School"? "1965 Caladan Lane"? Is there a Dune connection to ancient China and the terra-cotta warriors?

And I'm going to start using "WWWWD?" whenever I'm stumped. :D

My apologies for not spelling Middleman properly in the thread title. :o

I caught two of those references. Missed the name of the high school.

I like the show. It is the first show on ABC Family that I have ever watched because I always thought it was more for kids, but apparently they are looking for some adults as well. I am curious about the use of language that was rougher than I expected.

I like that the writers are not afraid to be obscure and sub reference pop culture from a period before most of the target audience was born. This reminds me of Reaper in the way it mixes the absurd situations with the mundane settings, and mixes the relatively lo-tech feel of a show on a budget with the sci-fi.

It has a Men In Black/Star Trek (original)/MST 3000 vibe to it. The big question is: Will it find enough of an audience?

In the meantime...let your geek flag fly and enjoy!

Oh, I've got to start paying better attention. All those Dune references went right past me. I somehow failed to notice any of them.

Believe me, I wouldn't have spotted them if not for the closed-captioning. They talk fast on this show!

I wonder if the "reformed" succubi and incubi will be recurring roles. I hope so.

i was on set for episode 7 last week and they kept referring to succubi and uncubi and at the time i had no idea what they were talking about, but I'd say that means they will be around for other episodes.

Loved the "Look who is funny in the underworld" line!

Edgy again. ABC Family is not just for kids!!!

I loved the fact that the heir was a red head. Mom was lonely in China.

Well, that just confirms my suspicion.

This is a hell of a good show!

Matt Keeslar was in the 2000 Dune mini series.

Yep! Matt Keeslar played Sting's roll in the Mini Series, he did a good job too.

Maybe it's me, but I'm failing to see how people are remarking that this is more adult and "edgier" than they'd expected for an ABC Family TV show.

The wife and I are a fan though!

Very good show. I enjoy it immensely.

All the other stuff I have tried to watch on ABC Family was dumbed down kids stuff. This is great!!! The edgier the better!

Nope - it's no longer Pat Robertson's Family channel ...

"Kyle XY" definitely has an edge - many scenes are not for "kids", what with family daughter occasionally being called a slut and when condoms make random appearances (still in the wrapper, mind you).

There's also "Greek", and for a while, they had repeats of "Everwood", which had VERY adult-themed content.

I also really enjoyed "Three Moons Over Milford", but sadly, never made it to a second season.

I'm getting a bit of an old-time radio serial feel from the dialog. I recently picked up what amounts to a podcast called "The Red Panda Adventures (http://decoderring.libsyn.com/index.php?post_category=Red%20Panda%20Adventures)" and this felt a lot like Red Panda and Flying Squirrel to me.

+1

Now I'm sad. I love Dune and didn't catch any of the Dune reference's either. I watch most everything with the CC turned on too.

MM is my new favorite show. I love the campyness of it.

What's "edgy" about it?
The last word I would use to describe this show is "edgy" I wouldn't even call it edgy for an ABC Family program. There's nothing about it that I haven't seen on a regular basis for many years.

Didn't really care for this one....can't put my finger on it, but it just seemed so puerile. I'll keep recording them, but won't watch until there's hardly anything else left on the TiVo.

Guess I don't get the love for this show. I've given it a shot twice now and I've found it pretty badly produced with woodenly delivered dialog. I'm giving up.

I guess I thought it was edgy because I had not watched ABC Family in a long time.

I have seen some of the pablum that passes for Disney TV such as Rock Camp which I thought would be like School of Rock. I didn't expect R rated but ugh this tweener stuff turns me off. I thought this was a tween show. (Actually I can see quite an age span enjoying this show.)

Check out Kyle XY or Greek sometime. :)

It looks like ABC Family also thinks MM is a bit more than it wants at the 8 Eastern/7 Central Family prime time. If you check your to-do list you'll see MM has been moved to 10 Easter/9 Central starting June 30.

Sounds like a sensible idea to me. Young kid-friendly, it's not.

I was hoping it would be another Avengers, I wish they would copy that more, but it is worth watching a while if it does not get too silly. I like the girl, and that is the big thing for me, always. Sure liked Diana Rigg too!!!!!!!

Cool. I thought that was the second installment of the graphic novel, but maybe they're not doing it in order. Either way I've been waiting to see Ping.
