Ok, the fourth episode aired, and I agree with whoever the critic was that got quoted in the earlier threads. This was a much improved episode.

Now we'll just have to see if it was a one time anomaly or if the series has really taken off.

I have liked this show much more each time it airs. It seems to be better and tighter and more focused each time. I guess that is to be expected, or at least hoped for, from a new show. I hope it continues, or at least stays at the level it has achieved so far, and does not regress.

BTW, I still chuckle at a US Marshall named Marshall. Silly but funny to moi...

Considering how much I hated the pilot, I am thrilled at how this show is getting better with each episode. I actually found myself looking forward to last night's airing and was not disappointed.

As much as the mom and sis still seem superfluous - that final shot in the waiting room with Mom was really quite a telling moment for Mary's character.

I do find the show improving mildly each week, but I thought the pilot was great, so there wasn't very much room to improve...

I love the show, but I really don't understand the mother/sister subplot. Marshall Marshall is getting to be a better and better character.

BTW, did anyone else thing the sister at some point in the past replaced all the jewelry with paste so she could sell it?

Dave Foley was great. Good Episode.

My attention starts to drift everytime Mom and Sis are on screen.

I pay so little attention to the mother/sister stuff so far that I really didn't think of that at all, but now that you mention it... Actually, I think the truth of that matter (as much as any storyline in a made up TV show can be truth ;)) is just what they portrayed - that she got all these gifts from these guys and thought she was a princess when everything she got was just fake and worthless.

I generally liked the pilot ok enough to keep watching, but the Hoosier Daddy episode left me cold, but to those who were saying it goes up a notch in quality with episode 4, I'd agree, great episode, and they have already gotten the Mary/Marshall questions out of the way, and I loved his description of their relationship.

And Dave Foley was awesome.. I loved it.

This episode was really good. Foley was really great I keep wondering who Lola was and when Mary started to figure it out I was like oh wow that was pretty smooth! I loved Marshall he is one of my favorite things about this show. Loved how Mary was impressed with his knowledge even as he lay there bleeding!

This was a very good episode. Much better than the pilot, and the mother daughter stuff wasn't too bad. It was fun seeing the mother get a job in a bar. Kinda like she belongs there anyway.

And I liked that they got the question of a Marshall/Mary relationship out of the way, but I haven't seen too much of his description of their relationship so far. He said he protects her from the world and the world from her, but she really seems to do whatever the hell she wants regardless of what he says. Maybe I guess that is why he was leaving, because he tried to protect and she wouldn't let him?

I agree I thought the mother sister plot was kind of interesting with this episode. I also enjoyed Marys moment with her mom at the end of the episode, we have never actually got to see her and her mom in that way before.

I loved Marshall's explanation of Mary being a rare bird(I believe that is what it was) and he wants to protect it, it was very sweet and helped explain their relationship. I hope that he stays put because I really enjoy Mary/Marshall interactions.

There's not one minute of mom-and-sis that couldn't have been replaced with Gilbert Gottfried singing the National Anthem and still improving the show. That said, this episode was good despite them. Not superior wonderful fantastic, but a solid "good".

I saw the "they're not trying to kill him" part way ahead of Mary, but I didn't see the "that death was a hit" bit until she did, and I usually see things like that a mile away (unless they don't give the information needed), so that's one big point for them. And the pacing was a lot better than it has been (apart from the execrable mom-and-sis stuff). I think we're finally at the point where the exposition isn't burying the story. This is definitely a good sign for the show to improve from here.

BTW, I still chuckle at a US Marshall named Marshall. Silly but funny to moi...:cool:I never realized that his name actually was Marshall. I just thought that was her (and the U.S. Marshall way) of addressing another Marshall. I just figured she did it partly as regulations and partly as her personality.

I didn't care much for this show during the first few episodes. But it is getting more interesting. Oh, and man did she boot stomp her boyfriend's guts with her reaction to his proposal?

.... and the mother daughter stuff wasn't too bad....

I couldn't disagree more.

I have NEVER done this before, but I FF'd through the sections that had the mom and sister. NOTE TO PRODUCERS: LOSE them....and SOON!!

Other than that, I enjoyed the episode.

In this episode the mom and sister were not annoying at all, I actually liked the, they were good support to each other and Mary there at the end!

EvilMidniteBombr the Marshall name thing is pretty funny to me, especially with the commercials they were running "he is a Marshall whos first name happens to be Marshall" thats just clever! Love it!!

And yes each episode seems to be getting better and better!

commercial? What is this commercial thing that you speak of? :)

I found the mom & sister stuff less bad this episode. However, they can cut them out completely and I'd be happy!

I guess the sister is no longer a druggie. They have totally dropped the story line where she had a suitcase full of cocaine.

Really liked Dave Foley in this episode. I thought from the first time Lola was mentioned that it was really him but I didn't realize he wanted to be in prison to do the hit. That part was clever.

Ahh this commercial I am talking about is this one! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9shMU1AQ2M) They mention that he is a Marshall who's name happens to be Marshall!

BeanMeScot that part of the story was very clever! Last nights episode was pretty good too, Marshall was very entertaining!

I just watched it and there's something I don't understand---Mary called her boss and said that Marshall was shot and the boss said he'd set up a roadblock/ambulance. Then Mary hung up. OK, so far, so good.

When Mary and Marshall show up and Marshall gets carted away, how come the boss didn't ask after Dave Foley? He should still have been under the impression that he was a protectee...

Well I think it was understood that they ran off (lola and crew), Mary used him as a shield to get in the car and threw him back towards his people! I think that is why the road block was set up! I also dont think they cared about him being the "protectee" anymore since he had it all set up so that he could do a hit in the first place.

The only thing I hate is these are suppose to be U.S. Marshall's and neither one can hit anyone with a gun.

I also dont think they cared about him being the "protectee" anymore since he had it all set up so that he could do a hit in the first place.I knew that, and Mary knew that, but how did Mary's boss learn about that?

Mary wasn't able to get any cell reception and when she finally could get through, we saw her call to her boss and no mention was made of Foley's deception...

Hunter Green

I assumed that in between that call and the arrival, there was another call which would have been boring for us (since we already knew what was said in it) so we didn't see it.

Amnesia

Hmmm...still not satisfied. The road blocks that Dreaday mentioned were clearly not to stop Foley since Mary's boss didn't know he got away---they must have been to allow the ambulance to get to the meeting place more quickly.

And I don't see why Mary would bother to call again---why not give all the info during the first call---I would think that she'd want to concentrate on driving as fast as possible to meet the ambulance...

Hunter Green

The answer comes out the same if we just imagine that the bit that would have been boring and suspense-eliminating and thus story-counterproductive was in the first call, or in a second call.

And Mary's far from Mrs. Logician -- I could well imagine her calling back and saying "Oh, crap, and I forgot to tell you about this other stuff about Horst" since making sure Marshall was okay was most important and most urgent, but once she had two minutes to think while driving, she might have realized the other stuff is worth covering too.
