So this was a little different ... the SNL season is over, so I expected a Mike Myers clip show.

Which is was, except there were new bits in-between including a monologue and Myers plugging his new movie "The Love Guru." I particularly liked the "Mike meets the new cast members" mini-sketch.

So, was this really filmed in front of a live audience? Maybe they just grabbed some people off the street to film the new parts? I just don't remember an SNL clip show having new "live" bits like this one did.

I really enjoyed this show, it reminded me how good Myers can be, since this stupid Love Guru guy is getting on my nerves with his media whoring.

I laughed most at the Scottish Hilary Clinton. My 13yo is an interesting yardstick and he laughed throughout this show.

Actually, there is a very good article on Myers in the Entertainment Weekly from last week (the one with the very nice picture of Angelina Jolie on the cover :) ).

It talks about a lot about Myers' career since he was on the 9/11 benefit and said something like "George Bush doesn't care about black people" (or something like that). Since that time, his only movies have been either animated or fully costumed (Cat in the Hat). Supposedly, he has been taking it all quite hard and has sought a lot of time from Deepak Chopra (sp?). My understanding is that the movie, though a comedy, is meant to be a vehicle for Myers to get things out of his system by letting the world in a bit.

I also found it very interesting how he likes to have control on the set and there supposedly was some tension during the filming of Wayne's World. Myers was a little intimidated by Dana Carvey's celebrity and was worried that he was going to take more control.

Anyways, it's a good article worth reading.

He didn't say it but the rapper (I forget his name) he was on stage with said it. It was a Hurricane Katrina benefit.

I read years ago that the director (Penelope Spheeris?) said he was so difficult that she'd never work with him again.

I watched some of this since my SNL SP picked it up. Gotta love TiVo. I skipped what I wanted to and finished the two-hour show in about 20 minutes. I got a nice chuckle when they talked about all of his character being Scottish.
