I came home this afternoon and turned on the Tivo and the sound is now gone. Only two things have changed recently. I added a DVR Hard Drive Extender yesterday. It linked ok although it did freeze up on a grey screen on initial pairing. I hard rebooted and it worked fine the rest of yesterday and today.

This morning I put the Tivo in Standby mode. When I restarted from standby mode, no sound. I have a Motorola Comcast DVR as well and it is having no sound issues.

I am using component with Digital Audio. I have done a hard reboot of the Tivo. I have checked the connections.

Any suggestions?

I'm a bit confused: are you using HDMI, or a Component Video w/ separate Digital Audio connection?

If using HDMI, are you using the TV as a switcher (multiple HDMI inputs), or are you using a receiver? Also, did you try removing the HDMI cable from the Comcast DVR and plugging it in directly to the TiVo, to eliminate the possibility of a bad cable and/or bad HDMI input?

Sorry, I originally set it up with HDMI but I changed it out on Saturday to Component due to limited HDMIs on the Receiver. I have 2 in the receiver and 1 in the TV. I just had to reboot the whole thing again because the plug pulled out when I pulled it out the Tivo to check the connections. When it rebooted, I now have sound but it is on a an Acquiring Channel Information screen now.

It is still trying to Acquire Channels. I can watch what is recorded but nothing currently on.

Check the cable connection. It too could have gotten loosened as the same time the plug got pulled out.

So I rebooted the Tivo again. I left it unplugged for a couple of minutes. It comes back up and everything is fine. I was just watching it a few minutes ago and the sound went out again. Any ideas? I mean, I was watching it. One second sound, the next, nothing. It is out on both tuners.

Try unplugging the external drive.

You've done a couple of changes recently. You may need to go back to your last known working, stable configuration and troubleshoot from there.
