Adding new tiers with CableCARDs

Charter's installing my CableCARD on Wednesday. Now, let's say later I decide to add the HD tier or another movie tier. Does anything need to be done with the TiVo or CableCARD for it to recognize that these channels are there, or once the cable company updates on their end, will the TiVo and cards pick it up and let me tune them? Thanks

Assuming the CableCard is properly installed and validated by the Charter tech, it will automatically recognize any changes to your cable lineup.

Your Tivo will recognize all of the channels, whether or not you are authorized to get them. Getting a particular channel depends on whether the cable compant authorizes your cable card to enable decryption.

But they may have to rerun guided setup, right? (something like 'hd tier' might not be in the regular lineup?)

I don't think so. At least with Brighthouse here, my "lineup" contains all of the channels (like HBO, the OnDemand ones, etc.) so I had to go through initially and unmark the ones I didn't receive. When I added the HD Pak, I confirmed I could tune to those channels directly, and then added them back to the Channels I Receive screen.

If I remember correctly TiVo setup does not offer a way to turn off the Verizon Spanish language or sports tiers. I had to manually turn them all off using the little channel guide card Verizon gave me.
