I just replaced a 540-series Tivo with an old Linksys 802.11b wireless adapter with a TivoHD using a new Tivo wireless adapter. The old setup was consistently in the 70-80% range of signal strength, while the new setup varies from 40%-60%. The new setup was installed into the exact same location as the old setup was. I have even tried another Tivo wireless adapter with the same results. Shouldn't I get similar performance to the previous? Is there something I'm overlooking?

I don't put a whole lot of stock in how meaningful or accurate those signal strength percentages are. If it works just fine, I don't worry about it.

Well, I checked the wireless signal strength number because when I tried to transfer a show to the PC, it failed. On rare occasions when we had transferred shows to the PC previously, it had worked fine.

I'll admit that due to the late hour, I didn't spend time trying to troubleshoot it. I do know it worked fine for getting updates and guide data. Thanks.

My signal strength is quite low even though my laptop rates very high. I also had some poor network performance on my TiVo wireless adapter too. It was very fickle about the positioning of the antenna which is difficult to lock down in the kids room.

Try another wireless channel in the router?
