I thought I saw a thread or picture showing the difference between the cards. I can't find it. The guy that showed up at our apartments to sign people up with cable doesn't know a thing about Tivo and cable cards. I figure it's going to be a nightmare to set this up. He came over with a cable box and was trying to hook it up even though I kept telling him that I don't need that when I use the cablecards. So finally he called the office to find out where I need to go pick up the cards. So I did that and supposed to call him if he is still on the property this afternoon to set it up. I already have a headache.

The setup is not difficult. Truly. Dealing with clueless CATV employees most certainly can be, but setting up the TiVo isn't. If you can't tell by looking at the card, install it in the Tivo in the primary slot, turn on the TiVo, and go into the CableCard setup screen. It will tell you what sort of card you have. Follow the directions which came with the TiVo, and if the CATV folks can't get it working, put them in touch with the TiVo CableCard setup hotline. For more specific info, go to the TiVo website setup section found here (http://www.tivo.com/whatistivo/compare/index.html#easy).

I put the card in and for a second the screen said S card, then changed to M card. I called Comcast and was lucky to get Rebecca who has set these up before. Now I just have to wait 24 hours or so to get HBO channels.

Thanks

See, that wasn't difficult, was it? Note while the time lag on the HBO may be valid, it also may not. They could have made a mistake inputting the data, or it could be a bad card. Usually it doesn't take 24 hours, but it can take several for everything to iron itself out. If it isn't working after 24 hours, call back in, have them send hits a couple of more times, and if it still isn't working, have them send a tech.
