In San Diego they reset the systems a few weeks ago and my Tivo S2 is not the same. Wrong channels getting recorded and shows being missed and also only certain channels. Weirdest part is the big networks are the most screwed up...

I feel the same way. HATE cable boxes. LOVE cable-ready equipment.

Feed your cable directly into a cable-ready TV, bypassing the TiVo entirely.

Whatever the TV's cable-ready analog tuner gets, that's what the TiVo should be getting.

If the TV gets nothing, then it seems there aren't any analog cable channels on your system.

By the way...

Have you considered ASKING the cable company if they've ended analog service?

Also, since you just moved there, didn't they TELL you what type of service you'd be getting when you subscribed? Seems odd they'd hook you up and not mention you'd be needing a cable box because there were no analog channels.

This sounds like an entirely different problem, involving your channel lineup and not what type of signal (analog vs. digital) is there.

Report the problem here-

I contacted time warner and they said they do not offer analog anymore. now what do i do? are all tivos that require analog going to be the next beta machine? i wonder if i got a cable box if that would let me watch tv through my tivo

If there's no more analog then there's no more TV without a box - TiVo or no TiVo.

Get a box and hook it up to your TiVo or go OTA and hope your TiVo handles over-the-air broadcasts.

If you get a digital cable box from Time Warner it will work fine with your TiVo's regardless of age. I live in orange county and have no problems.

It's an issue caused by a recent TWC cable box upgrade. Here's my post from another thread...

TWC upgraded their digital cable boxes recently. There's a channel changing bug that appears to occur when the channel is changed automatically with the IR blaster. I haven't read about a good fix, but it was suggested to change all your season pass items to start 1 minute before the hour or half hour, 59 or 29, also turn off Tivo suggestions.

I'm not convinced it's an on-the-hour issue. I think it's an issue with the cable box not being able to accept/read the IR blaster signals fast enough. Here's thread that suggests slowing down the Tivo channel changing process...

No.

It isn't.

The OP said above that it's due to TW no longer offering analog service.

There are no analog channels and that's why his TiVo isn't getting them.

The OP also said from the start he does NOT have a cable box, so how could this be a cable box problem?

The only "cable box problem" is that he now has to get one.

My bad. I got confused with 451 degrees post, which I also responded to in another thread.

Get a TiVo HD. No cable box required.

i dont want to use a box

A TiVo conjoined to a cable box is not the most elegant thing in the world, but it's not the end of the world either.

Your only other options are to use the cableco's own DVR box, or upgrade to a Series 3/TiVoHD with CableCards.

If there is a way to connect the cable box to the TiVo (and there should, just insert the TiVo between the box and the TV), and more importantly, if the TiVo can change the channels via serial or IR cables, there is no reason why you can't do this.
