Using a Tivo Series 3

I purchased 2 Amazon Unbox Videos yesterday and they still have not downloaded.

Amazon tells me to check the Network Connections. I'm doubtful since the Tivo is able to update the Guide and it just downloaded and installed the 9.4 Beta software, so the Network is obviously working.

However, when I go to Setting, Phone & Network, View Network Diagnostics, Everything says "Succeeded" except for DNS Connection, which says "Failed".

What exactly is the "DNS Connection"? DNS on the network is working (I'm here typing this), so I'm not exactly sure what the Tivo is testing here to tell me that the DNS Connection has failed.

I'm not even sure if any of this is related to the Unbox videos not downloading.

All my other downloads are working (DL.tv, Cranky Geeks, etc) and I'm watching a U-Tube video as I type this).

Any help would be appreciated,

Kenny

That is Domain Name Server. Usually its 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.0

Actually that's 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

On my network, 192.168.1.1 is my router, and 0.1 is the modem.

The Tivo uses DHCP so it gets its Network config from the router. The DNS servers are set to Cox's Nameservers automatically by the router.

I even tried OpenDNS servers and that didn't fix the problem.

DNS *is* working, otherwise I wouldn't be here typing this message and the Tivo wouldn't be able to download other content. I just don't know why the Tivo is giving that error message.

Frustrating.

Check the DNS settings as reported by the TiVo in the network settings screen. Make sure the TiVo has a valid DNS Server address. Look at the one listed in the TiVo screen and use nslookup to verify it is operational and that it is performing recursive queries.
