Hi -No one at Verizon knows anything so I thought I'd try here... apologies if this has been asked before. I can't find the answer!
I am considering dropping my cable internet connection and wired linksys router/adapter. I have a Macbook, just bought the Tivo wireless adapter and I'm planning on switching to a verizon wireless connection via an aircard.
My question is - how can I hook my tivo up this way? What kind of router will I need to buy (if I need one) that will work with my Macbok and Verizon aircard?
How hard will it be?
Can it even be done?
Any advice?
Thanks!
-Casey

you could buy a junxion box or cradlepoint router. these boxes allow a USB or PC express plugin, and then 4-port wired or wi-fi LAN connectivity. All TiVo sees is the usual wi-fi or ethernet.
junxion box is about $400; cradlepoint mbr1000 is about $225. Dave Zatz at www.zatznotfunny.com has a positive comment on the cradlepoint box.
be cautious though. verizon (and soon sprint) have a 5GB/month download limit. probably ok for tivo nightly downloads, but don't think that you could still do things like amazon unbox.

Wow -- I didn't realize those routers are so expensive. I've been using an inexpensive wired Linksys one for years. AND I had no idea that Internet providers had download limits!! I've been spoiled by using my cable as an internet provider. This makes me rethink everything about getting an aircard for the internet! At least I know it's possible. Does anyone know anyone in the NYC area who can help hook this up?
