I just bought my tivohd's and connected set them up and connected them to the internet. I have two more days before time warner comes with the cable cards, does anyone know how long before it updates the software it seems to be around 8.1 and i believe there on 8.3? I'm really hoping it gets updated so there are less probelsm with the cable card installations.

It's actually 9.3. Restart it a few times and it should come through. I didn't, and mine decided to update right when the installer was there. Fortunately, it didn't last long and he was able to complete the installation. But if you're not set for install for another 2 days, you should be fine.

It should automatically connect to TiVo once a day to check for updates. You can force it to connect whenever you want, though, in the Settings area.

I would do several forced connections until you see the Pending Restart message under status (or whatever the field is on the screen from which you connect). Then, once you see Pending Restart, do the restart right away.

thanks, i got it updated to current version. Can't wait to get rid of the SFA DVRS, and finally go back to my tivos.
