I have a series 2 Tivo unit with a lifetime service contract that I would love to keep and am using an OTA antennae (no cable, no satellite) however, when connecting the converter box to the Tivo unit and the OTA antennae I get nothing......I have connected the converter box directly to my tv and it works fine.....I have contacted Tivo several times to see if it is going to be possible to even continue using my Series 2 Tivo once the change goes into effect in Feb. 2009, but they say they've received no information as yet. What does this mean and is there any way I can continue using my Tivo unit to record programs once the analog to digital goes into effect? Please respond in as simple of terms as possible as I am quite a novice regarding technical terms. Thank you, Nancy B.

you have to run set up again and when it asks how you receive stations tell it you have a cable box
Tivo is working on an update to enable control of some ota digital set top boxes. I don't think a date has been announced as to when the update will be ready, but of course, it should be before the changeover date next Feb.
When the Series 2 units do receive the update, this will mean you will be able to continue using the Tivos for digital ota with some converter boxes.
There should be a sticky in one of these forums with more discussion on the topic. Maybe not though.

Thanx dwit, I hope you're right and they get this figured out soon, really annoying.....:) NB
Below is the sticky in the Coffe House forum I was refering to. It should have all the info you need, even with official Tivo personnel participating:

Until TiVo sends the update, you can use an OTA tuner box as a cable or satellite box in setup, with a cable or satellite lineup. If you set up as satellite for the OTA tuner, you can also choose to set up as analog antenna, and get both analog and digital antenna on the one box.

OTA tuner box = converter box
(just wanted to clarify)
- found clarification from the link above -
- You can get a digital OTA tuner, aka converter box.

No, I mean "OTA tuner box". The term "convertor" is too confusing IMO.
