View Full Version : Alan Ball coming back to HBO with Bad Girls
Not to be confused with Bad Girls Club, this one is a US remake of a well-regarded British series about a women's prison. See http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-hboalanballbadgirls,0,7040198.story
Granted most such remakes fail miserably (The Office being the only exception I can think of), but the pedigree is good, so there is reason for hope.

Isn't he also coming back with True Blood in December?

A female "Oz" huh. Well HBO could use another good show, I like most of Ball's work.

There's a long history of successful British remakes, such as ALL IN THE FAMILY, THREE'S COMPANY, and so on. Perhaps not in the recent past, but certainly it's an old game.

I think the original Bad Girls, from the UK, plays on LOGO...that is, unless I am mistaken and that's something entirely different. It's on at midnight, right after QAF.

You're right, that's the one.

You're right, I was thinking of more recent flops like Coupling and Men Behaving Badly.

The problem with making a good remake of a british show is the horrible source material.

A female Oz?
If there is enough same-sex "sex" as there was in the HBO show "Oz" - sign me up.

There will be two new British remakes on network TV this fall: Life on Mars (http://abc.go.com/fallpreview/lifeonmars/index?pn=index) and Eleventh Hour (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/fall_preview_2008/video.php?cid=746965641&pid=KcrSgqs87RoCIEvq_EwCGuHaDGTPq9Vm&play=true&cc=0) (video link, sorry).
