View Full Version : Why has the Program Guide stopped updating?

My TiVo is connecting to the Tivo Server but nothing is being downloaded.
This is Sunday. The last program is info from a week from Wednesday daytime. Normally, I would have info running through a week from Friday. Looks like no program guide updates for the last two days.
What's happened? Tribune Media's website is updated. But not Tivo's on screen guide.
Problem is not so much schedules for 10 days from now but any last minute schedule changes are not being sent and received (and the networks love to screw around with the schedules, especially during sweeps periods like now).

Check the System Information screen and verify your account status. It's possible your TiVo thinks you're unsubbed or otherwise not up-to-date.

And then if that doesn't work do what you do whenever you have a computer problem. Reboot.
I had the same problem it took a week for me to catch it. A reboot fixed it.

I have the same problem, and it started at the same time. Account in good standing; reboot didn't help.

Yes, and it behaved as it always does when I force a call and there's no new data.

Then I think re-running Guided setup might be in order. At this point it can't hurt.

I see you've been around here for quite a while. Are you using a Series 2? And if so, are you actually using a phone?
I just took a look at my own system info screen. It says guide cache data to 5/31, however when I look at the actual guide (find by channel and time) I'm able to go out to 6/4 which is a week from this Wed. That's normal, I think.
So is it that guide cache info date you're looking at?
I download guide info via internet.

My S3 has Program Information (according to the System Info screen) through 6/5 (so does my THD). However, if I go through Record by Time/Channel I can only see up to 7:59pm on 6/4.

I'm seeing the same problem on both my S2 and S3-- calls are completeing successfully; system info claims to have guide data to June 5 (it has said that for the past 3 days) yet there is only guide data to June 4, 7:30pm.
I called another Tivo user buddy of mine (different county, on a different cable system) and his two S2's are showing the exactly the same behavior. Calls complete, but no new guide data past June 4 (again, his machine claims data to June 5) Somethings wrong.
At one time when I experienced this problem, it turned out that my machine was 'on a different server' at TiVo (or so I was told) since most folks were not seeing a problem. It's starting to look like that scenario again....

I have the same issue, was waiting to see anyone posted here. Sometimes the servers get choked up. TiVoStephen usually gets things fixed up. Perhaps we should EMail him although it is a holiday weekend.

Same on my S3.
Usually, details for the Sunday morning interview shows and 60 Minutes are filled in after the Saturday call, but they're all still showing the generic description.
I forced 2 calls and got no additional data.

I called TiVo. They said they are getting reports on this. They said they have no word from engineering. Kind of makes sense since it's a holiday weekend.
CSR said he had a fix - TiVo/Messages & Settings/Restart or Reset System/Clear Program Information and To Do List.
He said it could be corrupted data preventing us from getting correct information. However he advised that this may wipe out your Season Pass List and suggested that I "write it down".
I'll give it a shot on my TiVo HD since what I record on that is like 5 sp's and no wish list. I'll get back to you.

I don't relish recreating my 50 or 60 SPs. :( I'll just wait for this to get fixed (and it will).

Sometimes a simple reorderinng of the Season Passes can help. This forces the system to recompute conflicts and fix the index.

It may be a guide data source issue. I can see guide data for FX, Comcast Sports Net, Golf, ABC Family and a few Encore channels all the way out to 6/7 on my S3, but most channels are blank on 6/7, they are filled up to 6/6 though.

Well, I did the clean out the old and download the new and I still only got data looking at A&E HD to 6/4 until around 7:00 pm. I just forced another call now.
It turned out I had 13 SP's on my HD TiVo but 3 of them were on HBO, which I just dumped and everything else I have a copy of so all I should have to do is just get the guide updated and select the show off the now playing list, upcoming episodes and create anew season pass.
I have over 50 on my S3, I'd never have tried it on that.

Haven't you guys noticed something? Three day weekends have a habit of slowing things down. Sunday's paper is one example. No coupons etc. Fridays before are sloooow.

But it's incredibly rare for TiVo to miss one day of data, holiday or not. It's almost unheard of for it to miss two days in a row. And since the first day it missed was Friday, it's pretty unlikely that the holiday had anything to do with it (although it might explain why it took them so long to react to the problem).

I do too on both the TiVo HD and S3 but the system info guide says June 1.:confused:
