...I can't find out any specifics about the Comcast Tivo. Do you have to pay upfront for your Comcast-Tivo dvr or is it just a monthly rental fee? Is it almost ready or should Comcast need to dump the Motorola dvr and use another platform (like Directv should have with the R15)? I'm assuming Directv won't be making any Tivos anytime soon so when I go HD I'll need another service provider. I won't watch TV without a Tivo ever again.

It is the standard cable DVR with tivo software running on it. The Tivo software costs ~$3 a month extra above the DVR rental\lease fee. So far it doesn't appear to work. But they insist they are working on it.
