I have four TiVos - three S2 dual and one TiVoHD, and two televisions.

I set the remote address to 1 on one TiVo and 2 on other TiVo by using TiVo button and pause button at same time and press the number. I am showing 1 on one TiVo under System Information and 2 on other.

Same thing with two TiVos on different Television in different room ( all four on same network)

But when I set my remote on 1, I noticed both TiVos pick it up. when I set my remote to 2, again, both TiVo picks up the signal.

Same problem with other Television and two TiVo's.

The 1-2 switch isn't working??

IIRC, when a TiVo is on the System Info screen, it will respond to a remote with the switch in either position. I've messed this up myself before. What you might want to do is reset the DVR switch on the remote, and then re-program each TiVo to the proper switch position.

Resetting the DVR SWITCH
1. Move the DVR SWITCH to 1.
2. Press and hold the PAUSE and TiVo buttons simultaneously for about three seconds, until
the red light at the end of the remote control comes on and remains steady.
3. Using the number buttons on the remote control, enter 0 (zero). The red light at the end of
the remote control will flash to indicate that the DVR SWITCH (either 1 or 2) is reset.
4. To complete the reset, move the DVR SWITCH to 2 and repeat steps 2 and 3.

AND..be absolutely sure the TiVo you aren't actively trying to program isn't picking up stray signals. Either block its IR receiver totally and verify it isn't still picking up the signal, or unplug it. Once you get the first one programmed, cover or unplug it and move on to the second. You probably already know this, but it never hurts to double-check; I've had it happen to me. Once both TiVos start responding to the same remote commands, it's annoying to fix, as you've discovered :(.

If you leave the Tivo on the System Information screen and switch the 1-2 switch, the Tivo will then set itself to the tivo number that is received next. You need to leave the system information screen before switching to the other tivo.

And the 1-2 switch does not mean the address 1 - address 2 switch, you have to program each side to alternate address, because it comes preset to address zero on both sides.

And the 1-2 switch does not mean the address 1 - address 2 switch, you have to program each side to alternate address, because it comes preset to address zero on both sides. This is an important point. There are 10 different codesets that a TiVo can respond to. It will aways respond to codeset 0, and can be set to additionally recognize one of codeset 1-9. On the remote, by default, both switch positions 1 and 2 send codeset 0, which means that any TiVo will respond to it. The programming sequence on the remote tells it to send some other codeset for position 1 or 2. You can program any codeset 0-9 for position 1, and independently for position 2. So position 1 could send codeset 2, and position 2 could send codeset 0. As mentioned, when in the system information screen, the TiVo looks for input from any codeset to set the codeset it will respond to. It can be real easy for the remote and the TiVo to get out of sync. There is no way to really tell which codeset the remote is sending in position 1 or position 2, other than experimenting with a TiVo, whose current codeset is stated in the system information screen.
