I didn't need to unplug it since I was only moving it 5 inches to make room for a new AV Receiver. Unfortunately my eSATA cable connected to my S3 only had 3 inches of "play". It became unplugged.
TiVo rebooted and while it was coming back up I plugged the cable back in. Too late. TiVo said it couldn't find my external storage and either pull plug or press clear for a divorce (no attorney's fees).
I unplugged and plugged back in and it seemed to take forever to power back up. Forever! Maybe because I was staring at it.
However, it came back up, all is well and I'm breathing again.
Always unplug TiVo before moving it.
