With the setup of my TivoHD with Insight cable cards yesterday, I have officially returned.

It's good to be back. I loved DirecTV, but I really couldn't handle their DVR any more. The only upside it had on the Tivo was its speed.

Happy to be able to experience the new and evolved tivolution (my last experience was 6.3 on the HR10-250), so looking forward to it.

FWIW, I think the cable company's HDs are sharper than DirecTVs....

Welcome back. I think you'll like the improvements and additional versatility. Your TiVo should continue to get a little more peppy after it has fully indexed all of the guide data. The only downside is the size of the TiVo HD's hard drive if you're going to be recording a lot of HD content. But you can always add an external drive and/or upgrade the internal drive. (More here (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5616160#post5616160).)

You're correct (at least at this point) about cableco HD being "sharper". Satellite HD signals are a good deal more compressed. However cableco's are in a head-long rush to do the same thing to add bandwidth and be able to brag that they too have a "gazillion" HD channels. Luckily Verizon's FIOS HD is uncompressed (although various amounts of compression are used by the originators of the broadcast at times). So at least for now you should be seeing better HD PQ.

Enjoy! :)
