I have had tivo for years and years now.

Been using MRV and photos since they days when you had to pay 99 bucks to get those features.

But I haven't really played with getting video from my pc to the tivo's.

I'm looking to get the CBS survivor ponderosa videos on my tivo's. Is there some way to easily accomplish this with the new tivo desktop and the download video feature in there. Is there a newbie's guide someone can aim me to.

thanks!

First, download and install TiVo Desktop 2.6.1 (http://www.tivo.com/buytivo/tivogear/software/index.html). Easiest way to learn is just play around with it.

What format are the videos you want to transfer in? If they're plain MPEG-2, you can send them back to your TiVo with the free version of TiVo Desktop. Other formats (like DivX, WMV, etc.) require the $25 Plus upgrade (or you can check out free alternatives like pyTiVo.

I actually have the plus version-

and I know to download myself and dump to the folder that is set to autoconvert.

I wasn't clear- left out the important part (whoops sorry...)

My problem is actually I'm not sure how to automatically get downloads. I think it's something about getting a video rss feed- but i dont really know how to do that. Is that the sort of thing I can do- or do I need to hope cbs is doing it already and I find a link or something?

Yeah, the web video piece requires an RSS feed (like a video podcast). I don't think the major networks are doing that.
