In finally bit the bullet and paid the $ and got DT Plus. That was the easy part. After much twiddling and fiddling, I finally got the extra web videos on my TiVo. Whew.

Now I want more. There are a small handful of web videos that are not available that I want to see. So I found them on the web and downloaded them into the folder that DT wants (I've not changed any defaults - Vista Ultimate machine). The My TiVo Recordings folder is listed in the window under the Add Video tab of the Share Music, etc. screen on DT.

I have selected Auto Transfer. Now the q's.

1. (under properties for the My TiVo Recordings folder) It says 'keep at most' and then has a number - keep what? Keep the downloaded videos on my PC? If I select 3, what does it do when I add a fourth to the folder? Delete them from the folder? Not transfer them?

2. How/when does the auto-transfer start? I get that I can go to Now Playing, find the computer in the list and transfer each individually, but what I'm thinking is that I should be able to - on my computer - just drop 'em into that folder and they would go by themselves.... yes? no?

And how often do web videos get added to the TiVo Other Video list? Is there somewhere you can go and request additions? Is there a web list of All?

Thanks in advance...

Susan

Are you using an RSS reader or are you going to the individual sites and manually downloading them?

The auto transfer starts very soon after an item arrives in the published folder.
The KAM setting is for each title. If you have it set to 3 and have 3 episodes of Tekzilla, any more eps that show up in the published folder won't be downloaded until one of the 3 Tekzilla eps on the Tivo is deleted. - just like any SP.

FWIW, I wouldn't use the 'my tivo recordings' folder. I'd create a new folder for the web content. Not that it hurts anything, but with auto transfers, there's no need to have to see the list from the Tivo

Scandia101, thank you!

The current video in the folder that is not transferring was downloaded manually from the website. But, your question is very interesting.

I'm not sure I get the difference between download from the site and download via RSS. I still right mouse click on the link and 'save as' whether it's from the rss page or from the web page. So, why are you asking?

And you really freaked me out with the Tekzilla example because that's exactly the main one I'm trying to auto transfer!! Can you see my folder?? :) Or is that the one everyone is looking for...

Gotcha on the different folder. I'll give that a try. Maybe that's what it wants.

I'm missing some clue still.

I transferred the one Tekzilla web video manually from the DT to TiVo via TiVo Now Playing and that worked. So I know the DT and the TiVo are speaking to each other. But I can't get them to do it automatically.

I downloaded a different one (non-Teczilla) and dropped it into the new folder which is now listed in DT as the video folder and is set up for auto transfer.

No transfer. A reboot of the PC did not help. A reboot of the TiVo didn't help.

Q: Should the transfer status window on the DT show the transfer of the web video or is it only for transferring from TiVo to PC?

Any ideas how I can trick the auto transfer into transferring automatically?

I just chose Tekzilla because it's the first one that I thought of that I get that isn't available through TiVo.

Do you have iTunes on your computer? It just makes some of this easier for some people.

If you go to a website like revision3, you can choose to subscribe to video podcasts such as Tekzilla and you can subscribe through the iTunes RSS reader. Or you can search for video podcasts from the iTunes store and subscribe that way. When new episodes are available, the iTunes RSS reader automatically downloads them. You can publish the folder that iTunes downloads them to.

I don't know what to tell you about the video not auto transferring. So far, I haven't had that problem.

Ahh ok. that's a negative about itunes but I can replicate with a client rss app. good idea.

AND... after way much twiddling and fiddling the automatic transfer works!!!!

I've got my newly created (thank you for the tip) folder on my Now Playing list.

Excellent. Thank you!
