A Comcast tech came out today to look at the problem I've been having with my DCT 3412 where a new season pass will set up to record an initial set of episodes, but never record any further episodes unless I cancel it and set up a new one. These are all set with delete for space available, so disk space isn't the problem. Also setting up a new season pass took between 2 and 5 minutes.

When the tech came out, we couldn't even display the season passes, it gave an error message that it couldn't do it, try again later. At this point, he just replaced the box with a DCT 3416 and after a half hour or so the Tivo software got loaded. It then took about 6 hours to get a week's worth of programming information.

When I went to set up the season passes again, it is much faster, about 30 sec to set one up. I can't tell yet if it is getting new ones, I'll post about that in a couple of days, but the fast response is indeed welcome!

Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a difference between the 3412 and 3416 or if it's something like disk fragmentation which the software can't deal with. I suppose it's also possible that the latest software version doesn't handle being installed on top of existing software but is happier if it's the first version installed.

I have the DCT 3412 with no problems other than the speed and the loss of the TIVO tones 1-3 days after restarting the box. Season passes have work flawlessly for 3 months (though very slow at setup).

You said the setting of season passes is much faster. What is your SW version? They have not pushed an update to my box. I had it installed in February. It worked the first time the initial SW was downloaded. I wonder if the new installs have a newer SW version.

It's the one they pushed out about a month ago.

Have they pushed that to the boston area yet? I'm still on 1.0.1 or something. Been that way since I got it. Boo!

I am NW of Boston (Rt 495) and still have 1.01.

NCARalph: What is your location?

N of Boston in MA. There were rumors Comcast stopped pushing it out because there were so many problems.

Well, there's been no change in the season pass behavior with the new box. When I first set one up, it schedules all the episodes it has loaded correctly, however, as time passes it never schedules any new ones that come in.

I did a Live Chat with Comcast and they weren't able to do anything about it. Supposedly they're going to get back to me....
