Hi - I'm new here and not very technical (so please bear with me). I have a question to which I can't seem to find an answer. I have a Phillips DSR6000R (I think this is a Series 1) that's still working, however the software version on it is 3.x. Can this unit receive a new software version, or is it too old? I also have a DVR80 (Series 2 I think) that was just upgraded to software version 6.3f. I don't keep my units plugged into the phone line, and it had been a couple of years since either had made a call. Prior to yesterday, both units were on version 3.something, but after I made the calls, only the newer unit was moved to the new 6.3f version.
The harddrive on the DSR6000R was upgraded 5-6 years ago, so I was wondering if that might be why the software upgrade didn't work? Although the unit still functions, it's extremely slow to react when I push the tivo button or try to move through the menus. Does anyone have any suggestions to either make it more responsive, or do I just have to live with it as is?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The DSR6000R is a series 1 unit. I believe the last software version for series 1's is 3.5. I'd have to hook up my DSR6000 to verify this. Series 2's do have 6.3 software.
To help speed up the DSR, you might want to perform a Delete Settings

Thanks for the reply. Silly question now...how do I perform a "delete settings?" Will this delete recordings or something else?
Thanks again.

As noted, version 3.5 is the latest for your model and there will never be another update. Jim refers to a "Clear and Delete Everything" which will wipe out all your recordings and settings - probably not what you want. This is done from Messages and Settings > Restart the Recorder.
You may want to try simply restarting the recorder. You can do it from the same menu as above or by pulling the plug for 30 seconds and plugging it back in (I recommend the menu restart.) Sometimes this helps with speed issues.

Depending on how you did your Hard-drive upgrade it is possible that "updates" were turned off.

Actually, I was referring to the Clear program information & To Do List. Sorry, I should have looked it up earlier. If that doesn't work then try the Clear & delete everything.
